Matt Murdock captured by the Owl! Why is the Owl insisting on a mock trial for Judge Lewis? And will Matt Murdock be able to uphold justice in the face of villainy? Daredevil’s secret identity nearly revealed!
Daredevil interrupts a gang of men who are waiting, after dark, at Nelson Murdock, looking for the blind lawyer. Scaring them off, Daredevil races home, anticipating the gang's arrival at Matt's apartment. There, the thugs tell Matt that he is required to represent a client in court.
Matt is then flown to the Owl's Aerie where he learns that he is to represent the Judge that previously convicted the Owl (after Daredevil 3) in a trial, set up seemingly for the Owl's own amusement. The jury for this court is made up purely of ex-convicts.
Barely has Matt begun his defence, when the Owl, as judge, passes the sentence of death on the Judge. However, enjoying being in control of the trial, he rescinds and lets Matt mount a proper defence. Matt persuades the Owl to allow him to bring a witness forward for questioning, the Owl giving the proviso that Matt must find the witness on the island.
Matt takes the opportunity to leave the 'court room' and return as Daredevil. The villains gathered attack the man without fear and, despite a spirited fight, Daredevil is thwarted when the Owl releases a sack of pool balls at his feet and then traps him in one of his hanging cages. The Owl tells Daredevil that he is sentenced to death!
